Many frequent heavy drinkers wonder if daily drinking is a sign of alcoholism. During my heavy drinking days, I often wondered the same. Most of the time, I didn’t drink every day, mainly because I physically couldn’t tolerate it. To be honest, I also thought that not drinking every day surely meant that I wasn’t an alcoholic and therefore, I could feel better about myself.

Daily drinking may or may not always indicate alcoholism, but it’s definitely a potential problem that deserves some deeper thought. This is especially true if daily drinking becomes a habit or chemical dependency that can’t be modified or stopped. Below are some facts about alcohol use that may help us understand whether daily drinking is moving into the territory of alcoholism.
